[CRITICAL] NC Elite SpringLeague Update - March 20, 2020

Dear NC Elite Players and Parents,

Thank you for your patience as we continue to work through the information and guidance being provided to us by our governing bodies (USAV and AAU), health care agencies and national, state and local governments.  On March 15th, the CDC made a recommendation to cancel or postpone gatherings of 50 or more people for 8 weeks.  Following this guidance, and for the health and safety of all players, parents and coaches, we have decided to postpone SpringLeague until after this 8 week period.  Therefore, SpringLeague is now scheduled to begin on Sunday, May 17th.  Sessions will not be held on May 24th due to the Memorial Day Holiday, and the League will finish on June 28th, prior to the 4th of July Holiday. The updated schedule can be found on the SpringLeague page of the NC Elite website (https://www.ncelitevb.org/content/spring-league-2020).

Please recognize that this is still, and will remain, a fluid situation as more is learned about the pandemic in the coming days and weeks.  We will continue to update you as soon as we have any new information that may impact SpringLeague.

Thank you,
NC Elite Volleyball Club

[CRITICAL] NC Elite Coronavirus Update - March 19, 2020 3:00pm ET
[UPDATED March 19, 3:30pm MT]

Dear NC Elite Parents and Players

We continue to work through the information and guidance being provided to us by our governing bodies (USAV and AAU), health care agencies and national, state and local governments. Thank you for your continued patience as we continue to weigh the guidance provided to us and determine our next steps.

We are now (finally!) getting some updates from tournament organizers regarding plans and schedules. Most recently, the Big South Qualifier organizers have updated their status. The Big South has been postponed to June 5-7. This communication now allows us to assess the remainder of the club season and put in place a schedule and adjusted cost for each of the teams, as relevant based on team affiliation. Please recognize that this is still, and will remain, a fluid situation as more is learned about the pandemic in the coming days and weeks.

Currently, USAV has canceled all sanctioned activities through March 31st [UPDATED APRIL 15, 2020]. We will suspend our training through March 31st [UPDATED - we will review our training schedule on or before March 31st and update accordingly], in compliance with USAV. Additionally, the CDC has recommended avoiding gatherings of 50 or more for 8 weeks, beginning March 15. Thus, we will also be managing our schedule to comply with this guidance, for both training and competition. Should these recommendations change, we will reconsider our position and timing as well.

As we continue to work through our planning, we also realize that families may have differing views and levels of risk tolerance related to returning to training and competition. Therefore, we would like to hear your input on some of the qualitative assessments necessary for developing final schedules. We are now developing a survey that will be sent next week to solicit your input. We do recognize that there may be data released in the coming days and week related to the status and impact of the coronavirus pandemic with impact extending beyond the next 1-3 months, and hope our timing is such that the survey may reflect any new data.

Next Steps and Timing:

  1. Survey Released by NC Elite - on or before Friday, March 27
  2. Survey Returned to NC Elite - on or before Sunday, March 29
  3. Training Schedule Update - on or before Monday, March 30
  4. Modified Competition Schedule - on or before Monday April 6
  5. Adjusted Payment and Schedule Update - on or before Friday, April 10

As always, we will post all updates in the notifications section on the NC Elite Website. We will continue to update you as soon as possible of any critical changes.

Thank you for your understanding that as we are working through operational and logistical challenges as well as programming and training adjustments over the next few weeks, we will not have the ability to answer emails / texts / voicemails regarding the current status in real time. Please know that we are communicating with you as soon as we have determined next steps.

[CRITICAL] NC Elite Coronavirus Update (March 13, 2020)

Dear NC Elite Players and Parents,

We are continuing to work through the information and guidance being provided to us by our governing bodies, health care agencies and national, state and local governments. The most recent guidance from Carolina Region USAV is in support of the recommendation of the National USAV Office, which recommends the cancellation all sanctioned USAV activities, including practices, through March 22nd

NC Elite is committed to providing the best possible environment for our athletes, coaches and families. Therefore, we, under the guidance of USAV and the Carolina Region, will suspend all programming for one full week, through Sunday March 22nd. We anticipate resuming all activities on Monday March 23rd. This will provide time for cleaning / sanitizing NC Elite equipment as well as insuring proper management of schedules to limit the number of athletes, parents, coaches and spectators in the gym at any given time.  We also hope this will allow for parents and players to best manage their rapidly changing work, school and transportation schedules.  We realize this time of continued uncertainty is causing much anxiety and inconvenience for many people and hope to minimize that with frequent communications and decisive action.

Please remember this is a fluid situation, and we will continue to communicate with you as we learn more and understand the progression of the situation over the coming days/weeks.

Tournament Updates:

  • Carolina Region Officials have canceled the Carolina Region Tournaments scheduled for March 15/16, as well as Carolina Region Championships on March 21/ 22 and March 28/29.
  • The AAU Super Regional scheduled for March 28/29 has been postponed and alternate dates are being considered.
  • The Big South Qualifier Officials are still in a monitoring phase and the tournament status is scheduled as planned (https://www.bigsouth.us/post/bsq2020-covid-19-advisory-panel).

Programming Updates:

  • For those registered for Spring League, we will delay the start of the program by one additional week, now beginning on March 29th.
  • Any athletes registered for Supplemental HIT, Supplemental Elite Defenders, Elite Servers or JUST PLAY! will receive a discount code for use in future programming. [You should expect to receive your code from SportsEngine via Joe McClean (joe@ncelitevb.org), so please be checking your email.]
  • Tryouts for NC Elite Nationals Extension Program (AAU Teams) will be postponed and we will communicate an alternate date as soon as possible.

NC Elite Volleyball Club Coronavirus Update (March 10, 2020)

Dear NC Elite Players and Parents,

Please note that all NC Elite training is currently running as scheduled. Please refer to the NC Elite notification center on the home page of the NC Elite websites to keep updated on the status of club activities.

We are aware that there are questions and concerns among players, parents and coaches regarding the current Coronavirus situation and how this may impact USAV and AAU sanctioned activities. Both organizations are communicating regularly with member organizations, and thus far are in a monitoring phase. If the situation changes, we will update the entire NC Elite organization as soon as possible. Updates can also be found on the following sites:

USAV  https://www.teamusa.org/usa-volleyball/features/usa-volleyball-response-on-coronavirus

AAU  https://aausports.org/news.php?news_id=1873569

CDC  https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/index.html

Any athlete who is ill or not feeling well is asked to notify her or his coach and refrain from participation in practice, competition and team activities. Athletes and all entering the gym should be disciplined in utilizing the hand sanitizer stations throughout the facility and at the front entrance as well as practicing regular hand washing. As at all times, parents should make decisions about their athlete's attendance and participation based on analysis of their personal situation.

Thank you,
NC Elite Volleyball Club
