Date Posted: 9/2/2016

Please join me in congratulating Romel on his promotion to Associate Director.  Romel will be working directly with our families to help you reach their volleyball goals and to help ensure that all coaches, teams, and parents are working in the best interest of our kids!  Romel will be in the gym and working with all of our teams throughout the upcoming season.  He brings a wonderful sense of calm and a voice of reason.  Romel’s energy is contagious and we will all benefit and the club will grow under his leadership and his positive approach to coaching!

Throughout Romel's personal playing career along with his many years of coaching and most recently serving as 18 Black Head Coach, Romel has established strong relationships with college coaches in an effort to get our student athletes the best exposure to local and national programs.  He has done a tremendous job preparing our 18s for the collegiate experience.

Romel will also serve as Program Director.  He will lead all camps and clinics.  He will be responsible for staffing and has already identified and hired some great new coaches!  For the upcoming season, Romel will serve as head coach for 16 Black but be a resource for all coaches and all of the kids on our travel teams.  Please take advantage of his tremendous knowledge and experience.

Please take a look at Romel’s Bio if you wish to learn more about him and the caliber of his volleyball experience:

Romel brings 17+ years of volleyball experience to NC Elite as both player and coach.  Romel graduated from Barber-Scotia College in Concord, NC where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration.  He participated in track and field and accomplished All American honors each season.  Post-graduation, Romel pursued a beach volleyball career in California at the international level (FIVB and AVP).  While transitioning from indoor to outdoor he began his volleyball coaching career on the legendary State Beach in California.   He has played on the Bahamas Beach Volleyball National Team, International Jammer Volleyball, Bahamas Senior National Volleyball Team as well as their Junior National Volleyball Team.  Romel has enjoyed coaching in the region since 2006 and looks forward to serving as Associate Director and sharing his expertise and experiences with all of the student athletes and coaches at NC Elite.  He has earned many recognitions some of which include All Region and All Tournament accolades as well as 3rd place in both  1st round World Championship Qualifier in 2010 and 2nd round of World Championship Qualifier 2010 in Jamaica and Cuba, respectively.  Romel has built great relationships with many college coaches while helping assist in the recruiting process for our student athletes and he has coached all ages from 13-18 and it is only fitting that he serve all of the student athletes and coaches in the club.

Please join in congratulating Romel!  We look forward to a great 2017.  Be sure to join us for the Fall Clinics and FREE Open Gym Sessions if you wish to see Romel in action!
