Casey Laing - Volley U™ Program Director
Casey Laing is a 2009 graduate of Wakefield High School where she was Academic All-Conference. She was a middle hitter for Triangle Volleyball Club. She graduated from Western Carolina University in May 2013 with a degree in Communication, Broadcasting. She continued to play volleyball for the Women’s Club Volleyball team at Western Carolina University where she was the President, Coach, and Captain her sophomore year through senior year. She led the team to a competitive regional level. She also taught volleyball at Camp Kanata. She has continued to play volleyball since college with some of the other VolleyU coaches in an adult league. This will be Casey's fourth season coaching VolleyU and she can't wait for the season to begin.

Madi Smith - Volley U™  Coach & VU Operations Assistant
Madi Smith graduated from UNC - Chapel Hill in May 2012 with degrees in Spanish and Global Studies. She currently lives in Durham and works at Duke. Madi has been playing volleyball for 15+ years and has played both defensive specialist and setter for Cary Y SpikeForce, Triangle VBC & Athens Drive High School. As a 2008 graduate of Athens Drive, she received Academic All-Conference recognition 3 years, All-Conference her junior and senior years, and was selected to play on the Tri-8 All-Star team her senior year.  She continued to play in the intramural league at UNC and in sand tournaments. This is Madi's sixth year coaching with the Volley U™ program and she is excited to be back for another great season!

Grace Irvin - Volley U™  Coach
Grace is currently a freshmen DS/Libero on the varsity team at NC State University. She has played at NC Elite for six years and returns as a coach in her third season. She was the student assistant coach for 14 Silver and 14 White, and will be working with Volley U this season. Grace received the NCHSAA Wells Fargo Sportsmanship Award during her sophomore year at the High School State Championship. She received AAU Volleyball Academic All American honors in her junior year. She previously attended Raleigh Charter High School where she was a starter for four years, two of which served as Captain. She was a state runner-up for two consecutive years and has made all-conference team three years in a row.  Grace is a starter at NCSU and was recently named ACC Freshman of the Week for her dynamic performance on the court!  Grace looks forward to spreading her passion for volleyball with the Volley U group.

Terra Ecker - Volley U™  Coach
Terra Ecker is a scholarship athlete from Philadelphia University where she played all four years as a starting right-side hitter for the Rams. Ecker led the PhilaU volleyball program as team captain during her sophomore, junior, and senior seasons. She received All-Conference, All-Tournament, and All-Academic honors, consecutively, during her four years at PhilaU. She graduated from Philadelphia University in May 2015 with Summa Cum Laude honors and a degree in International Business and Finance. Terra is a graduate of East Chapel Hill High School where she was a four year varsity starter, receiving all-conference honors. She played for Triangle Volleyball Club for 5 seasons. Terra has recently moved back to the Chapel Hill area and is pursuing a career in Real Estate. This will be her first year with VolleyU and is excited to share her love, knowledge, and passion for the great sport of volleyball!

Kali Emans - Volley U™  Coach
From Bluffton, Ohio, Kali, most recently, was the JV volleyball coach at FVHS for the 2014-20215 season. Prior to that, she coached the 7th grade volleyball team at BMS while receiving her BA in Middle Childhood Education at Bluffton University. Also while in college, she coached ages 14-17 with the Golddiggers Volleyball club. Her playing experience involves high school play and intramural teams in college. She takes great interest in volleyball and basketball but particularly enjoys watching The Ohio State Buckeyes. Currently, Kali is in her 4th year teaching ESL at FVHS.

Carla Lunday  - Volley U™  Coach
Carla Lunday is a recent graduate of Meredith College where she received a Bachelors of Science in Interior Design. She is now the design/marketing coordinator at Savvy Homes. She played volleyball her first two years Meredith College as outside hitter and DS/libero. At Eastern Alamance High School, she earned Mid-State 3A All-Conference Honors during her junior and senior years, was named into the Mid-State 3A All-Tournament Team her senior year and also served as team captain. She played for Alamance Force Volleyball Club and CHAVC, where she earned Carolina Region All-Tournament honors. This is Carla’s fifth year with VolleyU and is excited for another season!

Lizzie West - Volley U™  Coach
Lizzie West is a teacher at Millbrook Elementary. She graduated from Elon University in 2011 with a degree in Elementary Education. She played volleyball all four years and currently holds a record at Elon for second most service aces for a season. During her sophomore-senior seasons, she was ranked 40th in the NCAA for service aces per set and led the SoCon conference in aces. She was an academic all conference player every season but her first. Lizzie is a graduate of Apex High School where she was known as a player to watch, the offensive MVP, and defensive MVP. She coached for NC Elite in the past and is back for more fun with Volley U!

Molly Crenshaw - Volley U™  Coach
Molly grew up in Raleigh and played at Broughton High School as well as with the Triangle Volleyball Club. She later played for Davidson College as a libero. She holds the second highest all-time dig record at the school. After graduating in 2013, she went to Washington, DC and coached with the Metro American Volleyball Club for the 2013-2014 club season. She coached the 16 Regional South team for one year and as work and school responsibilities increased, she was a volunteer position coach for the club for the next two years. She is excited to be back in the area that she grew up in to coach the sport she believes is the best team sport there is!
